The developer has stopped the support of this very famous Matrix screensaver for Mac OS X. Its one of my favourite and hence I decided to download the code and build it again for the latest version. An OpenGL-accelerated screensaver based on the scrolling green lines of code seen in The Matrix, the science fiction film directed by Lana and Lily Wachowski and starring Keanu Reeves. The scrolling code alternates with images of the main characters embedded into the code, though these (as well as the opening credits) can optionally be disabled via the screensaver's settings menu. The color of the code lines can also be changed.
This download will probably not be usable on computers running Microsoft Windows.

I am running Mac OS 10.15.7 (Catalina) and it works fine. I disabled the 3D. Great!
This works fine on MacOS Catalina, you just need to disable Gatekeeper with the following command: sudo spctl --master-disable
Doesn't work on macOS Catalina
This was easy to download, works awesome and there is a option to take the 3D off. I am very pleased and highly recommend this for Mac users. Best and most accurate one I could find.

I didn't get this one at first because I didn't like the 3D images part, but the Matrix Mania one only plays for a few seconds then displays 'PURCHASE REGISTRATION' instead so I gave this one a shot. This one is free and one can disable the 3D Image, effectively making it like the other one. There's also color options.

XScreenSaver is cool, Linux is cool, Jamie is cool, but we live in a Windows world. I can't run my favorite games on Linux, my media apps won't run on Linux so my 1 year old and wife who rely on my computer to play media throughout the house will be stuck with public television if I used Linux, so why should his grudge against Microsoft keep me from using it? As a developer myself, and someone who as adamantly anti-microsoft long ago, its time to let it go, dude. Microsoft isn't the same and unfortunately us living in 2021 rely on Microsoft. Hell, even my 1 year old.

@Sum Gai: Who cares? Jamie Zawinski is a manchild who can't get over a 20+ year 'grudge.' He thinks he's sending a message to Microsoft by not making a Windows version of the program, but he's really just sending a message to PC users about how immature he really is. Seriously, sending soft C&D notices to sites that have the AUDACITY to create a Windows variant of his free program which he even states people are allowed to redistribute with credit. He's a complete joke. Then he turns around and makes a version for APPLE and GOOGLE devices, like they aren't mega corporations that have crushed small companies and abused workers like he claims to have been. A joke and a hypocrite.
